Mike Rickson, RN, BScN

Mike Rickson is a Registered Nurse (RN) with over 20 years of experience in health care in two provinces and internationally.

Mike’s passion for people has taken him across Alberta, British Columbia and the globe, delivering high-quality, person-centered care in a variety of settings including Emergency, Intensive Care, Critical Care Transport and Nursing Education. 

Mike is currently representing CapitalCare in the redevelopment of the Gene Zwozdesky Centre at Norwood, a collaboration with Alberta Health Services and Alberta Infrastructure to make CapitalCare Norwood a centre of excellence in complex continuing care.  In addition, Mike is involved in the design and development of the respiratory care program to be located at the new Edmonton hospital.   

Mike began his leadership journey with CapitalCare in 2012 as a care manager on one of Norwood’s complex continuing care neighbourhoods.  In 2017, Mike temporarily relocated to Kamloops, BC where he managed the Emergency Department.  He returned to Norwood in 2019 as Development Manager, followed by Site Manager in 2020, and became Site Director in 2021.   

Mike was born in Kamloops, BC and raised in Powell River, BC. He moved back to Kamloops in 1998 and completed his Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree.  He is pursuing a master’s degree in health sciences education from the University of Alberta.
