Smitha Yaltho, MD, CCFP, FCFP
Dr. Smitha Yaltho is the director of Medical Services at CapitalCare since 2014. In her role as a family physician in the Edmonton area, and as an attending physician at CapitalCare, Dr. Yaltho cares for a diverse patient spectrum – young adults through to seniors. Her clinical interests include palliative care, end-of-life care, geriatric care, and physician leadership.
In her clinical practice, Dr. Yaltho works within multidisciplinary teams comprising of pharmacists, nurses, rehab staff and social workers. She has participated in various professional committees with the Primary Care Network of Edmonton North and the Mental Health Review Panel of Northern Alberta. She is a Certified Medical Director (CMD) in post-acute and long-term care medicine.
Dr. Yaltho graduated from J.J.M. medical school in Davangere, India and has completed her Family Medicine residency at the University of Alberta. She is a Certificant and Fellow with the College of Family Physicians of Canada and has been in practice since 2003.
