BIOGRAPHY

Smitha Yaltho, MD, CCFP, FCFP

Dr. Smitha Yaltho is the Director of Medical Services at CapitalCare since 2014.  In her role as a family physician in the Edmonton community and as an attending physician at the Royal Alexandra Hospital, she cares for a diverse patient spectrum - youth through to seniors. Her clinical interests include palliative care, end-of-life care, safer sexual health, and physician leadership.

In her clinical practice, Dr. Yaltho leads multi-disciplinary teams comprising of pharmacists, physician clinical assistants, nurses, rehab staff and social workers. She participates in a number of professional committees including the Primary Care Network of Edmonton North and the Mental Health Review Panel of Northern Alberta. She works with medical students and residents in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Alberta.

Dr. Yaltho graduated from J.J.M. Medical School in Davangere, India. She completed her internship at the CMC Hospital in Vellore, India and her Family Medicine residency at the University of Alberta. She is a Certificant and Fellow with the College of Family Physicians of Canada and has been in practice since 2003.
