CapitalCare is one of the largest public continuing care organizations in Canada. Operating in Edmonton and area since 1963, our 2,700 staff provide care and services for nearly 1,400 elderly and disabled adults living in our 10 care homes, as well as over 300 people living in the community who attend our CHOICE and other day programs.
A community of continuing care excellence where people care for people
We provide person-centred care with dignity and kindness
“The Christmas decorations were up, and the carols were playing; with the fireplace lit and the aroma of fresh coffee, I felt right at home,” said Drisner, who is busy knitting Christmas stockings for her twin granddaughters’ first Christmas.
Residents had no idea who she was, but enthusiastically welcomed her into the group. They chatted about their knitting projects and reminisced about Christmas traditions. Before long, this happened:
“It was this perfect, peaceful moment in the middle of a typically hectic day. It reminded me just how easy it is to Be Yourself with residents, and to Be Present.”
At CapitalCare, we provide person-centred care. We do this by living our values. Our values guide our actions - and interactions with residents. We believe that when staff are being themselves, and being in the moment, residents will feel “at home” and at ease.
There’s a lot going on in our homes right now to help residents and families celebrate the holidays. We hope that by living our values, you experience the peace and joy of the holiday season.
October 1, 2015 - CapitalCare's new Vision, Mission, Values captures the organization's journey towards person-centred care.
